Review: My oh my. This book was absolutely incredible, I have no idea where to even begin. Sometimes series like these suffer from middle book syndrome, but this novel did not. It exceeded my expectations by far. I anticipated its release for so very long, and it was everything I could have hoped for and more. It is so interest to have the main character of a book be more of an antagonist than a protagonist. At times, I could relate to Adelina’s darkness, and other times she had me disturbed, wondering if I could continue reading about a character who had such dark, ominous thoughts. Adelina frustrated me throughout this a bit, by resisting against Magiano, an elite who’s powers were fed by Joy. His existence depends on light, while hers depends on darkness, and the differences brought out Adelina’s good side, the light inside of her, but she shy’s away from him, bringing more of the darkness inside her out. I was so impressed with this novel, I read it in one sitting.

I give this book 4.5/5 stars and would highly recommend it to fans of dark fantasy.
